Getting Started with Konvrt
A quick guide to converting your first file, setting up batch processing, and making the most of Konvrt's features.
Getting Started with Konvrt
Konvrt is a browser-based file converter. Your files never leave your device — everything is processed locally using WebAssembly. Here's how to get started.
Converting a Single File
- Go to the converter page
- Drag and drop a file, or click to browse
- Select your desired output format
- Adjust quality if needed (for images)
- Click Initiate Conversion
- Download your converted file
That's it. No account required for up to 5 conversions per day.
Supported Formats
Konvrt handles three categories of files:
Images
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, HEIC, TIFF, SVG, ICO — with quality control and format-specific options.
Video
MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV, FLV, WMV — powered by FFmpeg running as WebAssembly in your browser.
Audio
MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, AAC, M4A, WMA — same FFmpeg engine, same local processing.
Quality Settings
For image conversions, you'll see a quality slider. Here's a rough guide:
- 90-100 — Visually lossless. Best for archiving or professional work.
- 75-89 — Great balance. Most people won't notice a difference.
- 50-74 — Noticeable compression. Good for web thumbnails or quick sharing.
- Below 50 — Heavy compression. Small file sizes but visible artifacts.
Batch Processing (Pro)
If you need to convert multiple files at once, the batch processor lets you:
- Upload up to 100 images (500 on Team plan)
- Apply the same format, quality, and resize settings to all files
- Add watermarks
- Crop to specific aspect ratios
- Download everything as a ZIP
Batch processing is available on the Pro plan.
Saving Presets (Pro)
If you frequently use the same batch settings — say, converting to WebP at 85% quality with a watermark — you can save that as a preset. Next time, load the preset and skip the configuration.
Presets are stored locally in your browser.
Free Plan Limits
The free tier includes:
- 5 conversions per day
- All common formats
- 25 MB file size limit per file
Need more? The Pro plan is a one-time $19 purchase — unlimited conversions, no file size limits, and batch processing.
Tips
- Use WebP for web images — it produces smaller files than JPG at the same quality
- Use FLAC for audio archiving — lossless compression, no quality loss
- Use MP4 with H.264 for video — widest compatibility across devices and platforms
- Enable auto-download in the sidebar to skip the manual download step
